This is an electro pneumatic one that I made about 15 years ago to suit my old German vertical mill, the pneumatic cylinder is based on a Kurt design and made to suit my machine. Power Drawbar I also made the 3/8" Harbor Freight impact tool based drawbar for my Series 1 mill and it works wonderfully. I have never needed to use a hammer on the drawbar since installation. Usage takes a lot of the tedium out of using the mill. I took a calculated guess as to the proper cylinder sizing, as I did not obtain any plans.

The had already installed the power feed on the X axis, a home made power draw bar and DRO. I have since refit the scales to the table for the X axis of the DRO, remounted the power feed to use the factory trough so I can insert T nuts from both sides of the table now and install a 3 phase motor with a HY VFD and Hall effect tachometer.
